BjöndHealth is cloud-based, care management software as a service (SaaS) that identifies ready-to-change patients who will drive most medical costs, creates hyper-personalized, evidence-based workflows (Care Plans) for identified patients, automates the collaborative execution of these workflows via mobile devices across the healthcare supply chain, and employs behavioral economics to induce and sustain healthy change.

BjöndHealth allows subject-matter experts with no technical abilities, to easily model and test complex, adaptable workflows based on clinical care pathways for population health management. 

Care managers administer these workflows, while patients, along with family members, doctors and social supporters, using a dedicated mobile app, collaborate to do tasks in order to get or keep patients healthy.

I devised core functionality across the various products and led design of UI and UX for a 12-person agile development team, ultimately creating a web-based platform that allowed care managers and patients, along with family members, doctors and social supporters, to collaborate in order to get or keep patients healthy, which was proven in a successful pilot program at a Top-5 Large Health Network comprised of 13 hospitals and over 800,000 members.

My process included:

  • User-Centered Research + Design

  • Workflows, Mental Models + Case Studies

  • Interactive Models, Wireframes + Prototypes

  • Development and Maintaining of Product and Corporate Branding + Style Guide

 

In the course of User-Centered Research and Design, I identified 3 very distinct main user types: Content Creators, Care Managers and Consumers, developing and defining User Personas and Scenarios for each of them, leading to the development of not one product, but a suite of interrelated products, tailor-made for each distinct use and user.

Major design components which addressed UI/UX hurdles for the understanding and use of complex data by non-technical users included: 

  • An intuitive, logic-based rule builder and routing engine, that allowed users with no technical abilities, to create interactive tasks and health-risk assessments, relying on variable data inputs from a wide variety of sources.

  • Deconstruction of workflows to their smallest, indivisible elements (problems, goals, tasks and barriers), and imbuing each of them with the INTELLIGENCE to facilitate the creation of non-linear organic workflows – essentially growing workflows that perfectly conform to each individuals’ specific (and ever-changing) needs.

  • An approachable, interactive and easily-navigable means of workflow visualization for users to create, edit, manage and consume, complex, nested and ever-changing non-linear workflows and data, including previews of potential outcome scenarios.
