Prototyping the Future
Making emerging possibilities tangible enough to experience, question, and improve.
Much of my career has involved designing things before there was an established way to design them.
Architecture and visualization taught me an enduring lesson:
An idea changes when people can see it, move through it, and react to it.
3D visualization made unbuilt future experiences visible.
Interactive media made them explorable.
Product prototypes made them tangible.
My process has evolved with the technology – from architectural visualization and animation through interactive environments, VR, UX prototypes, TouchDesigner, Unity, generative media, Custom GPTs, GenUI, and increasingly functional AI prototypes and internal tools.
The objective has remained the same. Don’t just describe the future. Build enough of it to learn from it.
At Comcast, this approach has become central to product experimentation: moving rapidly between research, strategy, concept, prototype, evaluation, and iteration.
AI has increasingly participated in that process itself, accelerating the transition from question to working experiment.
