Sports + Fandom
Exploring how technology can change our relationship with live events without replacing what makes them live.
Sports have been a recurring laboratory throughout my career for exploring the relationship between people, information, physical space, community, and emerging technology.
At IOMEDIA, Virtual Venue used interactive 3D environments to allow fans to explore stadiums and arenas digitally, changing how people understood and selected their experience of a physical event before they arrived.
Years later at Comcast, that exploration moved into the live experience itself.
Work for THE PLAYERS Championship combined broadcast, real-time tournament information, Multiview, interactive experiences, topographic course modeling, environmental data, and machine learning.
English Premiere League 3D and Fantasy concepts explored how real-time player tracking, spatial visualization, heatmaps, and contextual overlays could augment football without competing with the match.
Persistent fandom profiles, narrative AI, personal history, goals, social context, Shared Viewer Mode, mobile GenUI, and an AI Sports Agent transform sports data from generic information into an evolving relationship between fan and game.
